ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- Gen. Gustave Perna, commanding general, Army Materiel Command, visited Rock Island Arsenal, Oct. 26. Perna took command of AMC in September.
AMC is responsible for delivering and maintaining the equipment and material services Soldiers and warfighters need for daily operations around the world. Several of AMC's subordinate commands are located at RIA, which is known as "the home of Army logistics," according to the installation's welcome sign.
Perna visited the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, the Joint Munitions Command, and took a tour of the Rock Island Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center.
While at ASC, he received an operational briefing from ASC headquarters staff as well as from several of ASC's Army Field Support Brigades and Contracting Support Brigades.
Maj. Gen. Edward Daly, commanding general, U.S. Army Sustainment Command, welcomed Perna to the island.
Daly assured Perna that ASC supports AMC in every way, and that ASC's mission is to "integrate and synchronize the delivery of AMC capabilities and enablers at the operational and tactical points of need."
Perna said that ASC, working closely with other AMC commands, is critical to Army readiness and the Army's global mission.
AMC is headquartered at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.
