Piggee to Lieutenant General at a special ceremony at 2 p.m. (EST) on September 29, 2016 at the Pentagon. Piggee will become the new Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4 (Army Logistics), where he will oversee logistics policies, programs, and plans in support of building a ready Army. He will become one of only 50 Lieutenant Generals serving in the Army.

Most recently Piggee served as the Director, J-4, United States Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, in Florida. He spearheaded initiatives to reduce the Army's footprint in Afghanistan; to build partner capacity in Iraq; and train and equip missions in Syria.
During his 35 years in the Army he has served three times at Fort Hood deploying troops from there to Iraq, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Kuwait. He has been a commander five times, including the Commanding General of the 21st Theater Sustainment Command in Germany. He also previously served at the Pentagon as the Executive Officer to the Vice Chief of Staff of the Army.
Piggee, a native of Stamps, Arkansas, is married to the former Kassi Gideon, originally of Killeen, Texas. He is the son of the late WWII Veteran, Roland Piggee. His mother, Maxine Piggee of Texarkana, Arkansas, will be attending the ceremony, along with his mother-in-law, Shirley Gideon, of Killeen, Texas.
Piggee earned his BS in Biology from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff; his MS in Materiel Acquisition Management from the Florida Institute of Technology; and MSS in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
This will be General Via's final time of hosting a ceremony before he retires from AMC. Via and Piggee served together for nearly 20 years. AMC is the Army's premier provider of materiel readiness.
