DAVENPORT, Iowa -- About 15 Soldiers from Rock Island Arsenal participated in the Modern Woodmen of America "Salute to Heroes" parade, Sept. 11.
The U.S. Army Sustainment Command color guard also presented the colors prior to the community event at Modern Woodmen Stadium following the parade.
The march began in Rock Island, Illinois, crossing the Centennial Bridge into Davenport, Iowa, and ended at Modern Woodmen Stadium where Modern Woodmen representatives; Mayor Frank Klipsch, Davenport; Fire and Police Department officials, and others opened a community event with remarks about the losses of 9/11 and the brave men and women first responders who lost their lives trying to save their fellow countrymen.
The event featured first responder vehicle displays, kids' activities, American Red Cross booths, self-defense classes and more.
This year marked the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
