Torun, Poland -- The 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command and the 174th Ohio National Guard Air Defense Artillery Brigade along with partners from the Polish 3rd Surface to Air Missile Brigade and the British 19th Tank Transporter Squadron conducted a multinational convoy from Ustka to Torun, Poland, June 12 as part of exercise Anakonda 16.

Early on the morning of the 12th, just as the sun crested the horizon the sleepy silence of dawn was broken by the sound of 283 vehicles being started as Polish, British, and American Soldiers conducted their pre-movement preventative maintenance checks and services. The personnel in this convoy would be responsible for moving an entire air defense artillery brigade across Poland. This massive multinational movement is a true testament to the logistical interoperability of these 3 nations.

"We have been working very closely with our Polish and British partners to plan this mission," explained Maj. Louis Longhenry, the 174th ADA Brigade Lead Operations Officer, "This convoy is completely integrated."

The extensive planning and coordination for this event paid off as the more then 700 personnel covered over 300 kilometers in under 12 hours. The tremendous success of this mission not only demonstrates the interoperability of these 3 nations, but also allowed for a seamless transition of operations.

"The key to success was everyone making it safely to Torun, and we achieved that." Stated 2nd Lt. Hope Landsem, convoy commander of the first group to arrive in Torun.

This convoy's success is only one of an almost countless number of examples of multinational interoperability occurring this month at exercise Anakonda 16.
