Prime Minister of the Republic of India lays wreath, honors fallen at Arlington National Cemetery

Secretary of Defense Ash Carter and Maj. Gen. Bradley A. Becker, commanding general, U.S. Army Military District of Washington hosted Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi, for an Armed Forces Full Honors Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery June 6, 2016 in honor of the Prime Minister's official visit to the United States.
After the wreath-laying ceremony, Modi laid a wreath at the Space Shuttle Columbia Memorial in the cemetery.
According to the State Department, the relationship with India is rooted in common values, including the rule of law, respect for diversity, and democratic government. We have a shared interest in promoting global security, stability and economic prosperity through trade, investment and connectivity. The United States and India have a common interest in the free flow of global trade and commerce, including through the vital sea lanes of the Indian Ocean.
