TORUN, Poland - The 557th Area Support Medical Company met with the medical teams of the Polish and U.K. units that are providing medical drop zone coverage of the 82nd Airborne Division's jump in support of Swift Response 16.

On June 3 key leaders of 557th ASMC gave a tour of their medical capabilities on LSA Viper to the Polish 1st Army Field Hospital, 10th Military Hospital and discussed their drop zone coverage plan.

Later that day 557th coordinated with the U.K. 16th Medical Regiment to integrate their medics with U.S. medics to coordinate roving medics on the drop zone, establish medical capabilities, and ground evacuation routes increasing interoperability between the two units.

The airborne jump will include approximately 1,500 Soldiers from the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division and multinational task force to conduct an airborne operation into the Torun training area to secure key terrain east of the Vistula River.

421st Medical Battalion (Multifunctional), the superior unit of 557th ASMC, is providing vital assets to Swift Response 16 and Anakonda 16 including, food and water risk assessments, base camp assessments, ground ambulance evacuation, Role 1 and Role 2 (NATO) medical capabilities, and combat operational stress control.
