Twilight Tattoo season kicks off May 4

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Army Military District of Washington kicks off Twilight Tattoo, a FREE outdoor live-action military ceremonial performance, Wednesday, May 4, at 7 p.m., with pre-show entertainment beginning at 6:30 p.m., on Summerall Field at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Virginia.

Twilight Tattoo performances run each Wednesday night through Aug. 3, Twilight Tattoo is an hour-long, live-action military performance that blends the precision and discipline of the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) with the orchestral sounds and pop music from The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own".

"For more than 200 years, Soldiers from The Old Guard and Pershing's Own have been thrilling thousands of Americans with their world-class music and military precision," said Col. Josslyn L. Aberle, U.S. Army Military District of Washington public affairs director.

"The U.S. Army's "Twilight Tattoo" is a one hour show designed to strengthen the patriotic spirit of the American people as they experience a fast paced journey through 241 years of history as seen through the eyes of a Soldier. Our goal is to provide the audience with deeper understanding and appreciation of how the U.S. Army has shaped our Nation's history, and the strength, versatility and professionalism of our Soldiers."

"Bring your family, your friends, your group, and your enthusiasm for our country to one of our performances. This program salutes not only the Soldiers who defend our country, it salutes you, the citizens and patriots we defend."
