FORT BENNING, Ga., (April 13, 2016) -- The town of Richland, Georgia, is preparing for an afternoon that food and beverage lovers will savor.
On April 24, the streets of this small town will be bustling with the culinary and beverage delights of south Georgia at the 2nd annual Taste of Richland and Market.
For $25 attendees can enjoy samplings from 30 local vendors including bakeries, wineries, breweries and distilleries who will offer samplings for attendees to sip, sample and savor. If attendees like what they taste, they can purchase on the spot.
"The unique thing about this event is that it's not only a sampling, it's also a farmers market," said Karin Vonk, co-owner of Richland Distillery who is hosting the event.
Vonk noted that attendees will be given a bag for purchases and a commemorative glass to use for sampling upon entrance. There will also be a juice bar and coffee roasters as non-alcoholic options to enjoy.
The Taste of Richland and Market breaks the mold of the traditional food festival, as vendors will be set up in unique spaces in the Historic Richland Hotel, Richland Distillery and their open-air courtyard.
There will also be several local restaurants holding cooking demonstrations during the event.
Vonk encourages the Fort Benning community to come out and attend this event, as Richland is a short 20-mile drive south of Benning.
"It's the perfect little day trip for the folks at Fort Benning," said Vonk.
The vendors include 11th & Bay, HighRoad Craft Ice Cream, 13th Colony Distilleries, Cafe Campesino, Stillpond Winery, Sweet Georgia Baking Co., Center Stage Organic Market, Georgia Olive Oil Farms, Omaha Brewing Co., Cake Art by Jen, The Juice Box, Richland Rum, and more.
The event is Family friendly and is an indoor and outdoor event, so dress accordingly. It will start at 2 p.m. and conclude at 5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at www.tasteofrichland.org and are $25 per person when purchased in advance. Tickets purchased at the door are $30. Proceeds of ticket sales will go to Richland Main Street, a program of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, which is working to improve the economic health and revitalize the historic downtown of Richland.
