ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, MD. -- The most senior civilian in the materiel enterprise visited the agency charged with providing analytical support for current and future force capabilities.
Army Materiel Command's Executive Deputy to the Commanding General Lisha Adams visited the U.S. Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity at the end of March for an update on ongoing efforts.
AMSAA has more than 600 employees including analysts, engineers, mathematicians, and scientists, all dedicated to providing quality analyses. They presented her information on condition based maintenance, combat uniform camouflage and munition effectiveness.
Adams did not miss the opportunity to thank the workforce either. She presented James Amato, director of AMSAA, the Meritorious Civilian Service Award for outstanding service during his tenure from September 2014 to present.
Adams rounded out her visit by participating as the keynote speaker of Aberdeen Proving Ground National Women's History Month Observance, March 30.
She addressed the workforce about challenges women face every day, professionally and personally. Offering a number of personal experiences, Adams emphasized that the attitude we have towards those challenges can influence how we face them. "We all have choices…choose to have a good day," said Adams.
Her message was received by over 300 attendees and carried back to their worksites to spread across the APG community.
"This was one of the very best observance programs I have attended and was delighted to receive inquiries about how employees could share this presentation with co-workers and family," said Amato.
Immediately following the event, Adams participated in a Women's Professional Development Luncheon featuring a question and answer forum with other senior participants from the Civilian Human Resources Agency, Department of the Army and the Program Executive Officer, Command, Control, Communications-Tactical.
