FORT SILL, Okla. Feb. 11, 2016 -- Soldiers, civilians, veterans and military family members of working age are invited to attend VETRACON2016 Feb. 19, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Sheridan Theater on Fort Sill.
The free conference brings eight business and entrepreneur leaders to Fort Sill to help attendees better prepare for finding and securing a job after the military.
The conference comes six weeks before the Soldier for Life hiring event here March 24.
Col. Glenn Waters, Fort Sill Garrison commander, urges Soldiers and civilians to take advantage of the conference by applying what they learn at VETRACON when preparing for the hiring event next month.
"I highly encourage leadership to let their Soldiers attend the conference," said Waters. "It's one day that can positively affect the rest of their Soldier's life. It's (leaderships') job to help Soldiers leave the Army correctly."
In addition to assisting attendees with career goals, Steve Sisler, founder and CEO of the Behavioral Resource Group, Inc., will be on hand to provide free behavioral assessment. After registering, a link will be provided through email to an assessment where results can be printed off and brought to the conference.
The event is primarily targeted toward military members with less than one year until they exit the service. VETRACON is organized by American Dream U, an organization designed to help military members and veterans pursue a career following their service in the military.
