WASHINGTON (Feb. 7, 2016) -- His Excellency Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic, participated in an Armed Forces Full Honors Wreath-Laying Ceremony with Maj. Gen. Bradley A. Becker, U.S. Army Military District of Washington commanding general, to honor America's fallen at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, Va.

The United States-Italy partnership is one of our strongest, as Italy is a leader in peacekeeping and military operations around the world. Italy has also worked closely with the U.S. and others in combating drug trafficking, human trafficking, and terrorism.

Mattarella will meet with President Barack Obama to discuss matters of mutual interest.
