FORT BENNING, Ga., (Nov.4 2015) -- The Maneuver Captains Career Course Seminar 9's ultimate football team, the Energy Bus, bested MCCC Seminar 6's team, Mission Commandos, with an ending score of 15-5 in the Mega Bowl Oct. 30 at Doughboy Stadium.
Prior to the Megabowl, MCCC Seminar 5's team, Baker's Dozen, won versus Seminar 10's team, Swanson's UFL, in the Toilet Bowl, the losing teams' championship.
"The ability to take a team under standard principles of the game and make them better is a direct correlation to how you lead a unit," said Capt. Brandon Pasko, small group leader for MCCC Seminar 9.
The sporting event brought the officers together outside the classroom to build camaraderie among the warrior athletes.
In ultimate football, running with the ball is limited to only a few steps, forcing guys to pass the ball in order to continue moving forward toward the endzone. Players on the bench shouted tips during the games and substituted often to create a environment where teamwork wins the game.
The teams that perform better usually have better teamwork, Pasko said, and better communication, idea sharing, and a drive to get better from every game played.
"All of those kinds of ideas are the same way you train a unit to fight a mission," Pasko said. "So, a classroom environment directly relates to a team's performance on the field."
