BALI, Indonesia (Sept. 14, 2015) -- The U.S. and Indonesian armies officially opened the 9th Pacific Armies Chiefs Conference, or PACC IX, today in Bali, Indonesia.

PACC IX, co-hosted by U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley and Indonesian army Chief of Staff Gen. Mulyono, assembled 26 army chiefs from Australia, Britain, China, France, Japan, Korea and other Indo-Asia-Pacific countries to conduct bilateral and multilateral sessions to determine the best ways to maintain and strengthen regional security.

"Peace and stability in this [Pacific] region is of vital importance for the millions of citizens, who live in this region," Milley said. "As such, the United States of America and the United States Army is deeply committed to maintaining peace, stability and security in the Asia-Pacific region."

PACC, a biannual conference whose host site rotates across Asia-Pacific nations, is scheduled to be held in South Korea in 2017 and named PACC X.
