WEST POINT, N.Y. (September 22, 2015) -- Sept. 27, at 3:00 p.m., the U.S. Military Academy at West Point Band and Das German Army Band Hannover, in celebration of the 50-year anniversary of the appointment of the German Liaison Officer at West Point, will perform at Eisenhower Hall Theater on West Point.

Titled "Hands Across the Sea," this collaborative performance commemorates the 50-year anniversary of the appointment of the German Liaison Officer at West Point, a post established in 1965 and currently held by German Army Lt. Col. Rolf Metz.

The U.S. Military Academy at West Point Band will lead the concert with pieces by prominent American composers such as John Philip Sousa's "Hands Across the Sea" and "Shindig" by Don Gillis. Das German Army Band Hannover will perform pieces such as Julius Fucík's "Entry of the Gladiators," Johann Strauss' "Radetzky March," Alfred Reed's "Second Suite for Band" (Latino Mexicana) and the vocal talents of their own German Army Sgt. 1st Class Thorsten Sturmhöfel, in a Swing and Latin Michael Bublé medley. For the finale, both bands will combine into one ensemble to perform German and American marches as well as Franz von Suppé's "Light Cavalry Overture", by John Williams.
