WARREN, Mich.--U.S. Army Contracting Command -- Warren unveiled the newly renovated space that will house its Source Selection Support Center of Excellence in a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Kristan Mendoza, ACC-WRN acting executive director, and David Henderson, chief of the S3CoE, cut the ribbon June 11 to dedicate the new office space.
This is the first permanent facility at ACC-WRN designed specifically for use by source selection evaluation boards. It can potentially house up to four boards concurrently and has offices for each of the S3CoE advisory team members, explained Mendoza.
Henderson said he looks forward to a new beginning for the S3CoE.
"This new facility will provide contracting officers, program officers and ACC-WRN associates dedicated space to plan, train and conduct best value source selections," he explained. "This space will also provide evaluators the opportunity to directly interface with S3CoE staff members, who all provide value to ACC-WRN's source selection process."
Mendoza explained that the S3CoE's roots can be traced back to 1994 when the system acquisition assistance team was established at the direction of the Henry B. Jones, then director of the TACOM Acquisition Center.
The SAAT was formed to standardize and improve the source selection processes and procedures and assist in the planning and execution of best value source selections.
Since the SAAT was founded, it has gone through many changes in both staff and name. The current S3CoE at ACC-WRN has a staff of seven contracting professionals who have extensive experience in contracting and specifically in source selections.
The S3CoE continues to play a key role in every source selection that takes place at ACC-WRN and is a critical part of ACC-WRN's success in accomplishing its mission Mendoza said.
