FORT SHAFTER, Hawaii - The Human Resources Sustainment Center is a unit that provides theater-level support to plan, integrate and coordinate human resources assistance to service members in both a garrison and deployed environment.

When identified to support a mission to Kuwait, the 8th HRSC, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, coordinated training for more than sixty Soldiers to allow them to gain relevant knowledge from Human Resources experts, an understanding of an HRSC roles and responsibilities, and to reinforce relationships with strategic partners in both Pacific Command and Central Command.

"The 8th Human Resources Sustainment Center will provide comprehensive and expert theater-level human resource support to Army, Joint and Multinational Forces deployed to the CENTCOM area of operations," said Sgt. Maj. Kelly Stransky, the plans sergeant major for 8th HRSC.

During their deployment, the Soldiers of 8th HRSC will find themselves having to perform a variety of tasks such as human resources planning, postal, casualty and personnel accountability, Stransky added.

To assist in their training, 8th HRSC was provided support from the U.S. Army Pacific G1 and the 14th HRSC out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, April 20-24, at the Mission Training Complex on Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

The support consisted of systems training, analysis and practical exercises while the subject-matter experts from the units discussed their tactics, techniques and procedures specific to daily operations while deployed.

The training also consisted of Master Scenario Event List tasks that challenged the Soldiers' doctrinal knowledge, technical systems skills and consider theater-specific events.

Stransky said the training helped in validating the HRSC for their deployment and it gave them the opportunity to train with the unit they will be replacing when they deploy.

The 8th HRSC continues to use everything they learned to stay ready and vigilant for their upcoming mission.
