GARMISCH, Germany - U.S. Army Europe's personnel division, or G1, recently conducted Human Resources System Training at the George C. Marshall Center for Excellence in Garmisch, Germany.

Human resources personnel from both the Marshall Center and NATO School Oberammergau attended the training, which was sponsored by the NATO School.

The curriculum included a combination of both Enlisted Distribution Assignment System (EDAS) and Web EDAS training, introduced the new Qualitative Management Program and Qualitative Service Program with an added career piece discussing the new Adjutant General's Corps career map for human resources personnel.

Sgt. Maj. Christian Carr, senior enlisted advisor, USAREUR G1, has established a "Pride Team" that has been travelling all over Europe providing training to all Army human resources military and civilian personnel.

Having already visited 48 battalions, the Pride Team has identified areas for improvement regarding personnel proficiency on the two systems and strength management roles.

This training enables human resources personnel to develop a broader prospective and knowledge that directly impacts their daily duties and performance.

"This is the first time we have actually been able to come out and interact with all of the human resources (Soldiers who) are at the Marshall Center and NATO School," Carr said. "So what we did was combine both our Enlisted Distribution Assignment System and Web EDAS training, and we added a career development piece (the training)."

The USAREUR Pride Team's main objective is to provide human resources personnel adequate training and familiarity with the human resources systems to better manage and care for members within their units. The commandant of the NATO School Oberammergau, U.S. Navy Capt. W. Scott Butler, appreciated the training opportunity.

"I'm grateful to Sgt. Maj. Carr and his team of human resource professionals from U.S. Army Europe for providing critical, hands-on training for Soldiers here at the NATO School Oberammergau," Butler said. "Their outreach effort was a clear demonstration of the importance that USAREUR leadership places on ensuring its personnel are, regardless of location, both, Army Strong and ready to support a Strong Europe. I look forward to similar training opportunities in the future."

"I want (the Soldiers) to walk away with the understanding that they have to continue to use these systems on a daily basis in order to stay proficient on the two systems that we've taught, because if they don't (use it, they will lose it), Carr added. "This is a huge knowledge gap that we have identified throughout 48 visits to battalions throughout Europe. That's why we are doing this training."
