WIESBADEN, Germany -- The Ministry of Defense hosted a meeting on Tuesday, 17 March in Berlin. Ministerialdirektorin Greyer-Wieninger chaired the meeting which was attended by the Lord Mayor of Boeblingen, the Mayor of Schoenaich, and a delegation from the U.S. Army in Europe. Topic of the meeting was the firing noise caused by the Firing Range Boeblingen-Murkenbach..
New construction is required to affect the construction measures sought by the concerned citizens of Boeblingen and Schoenaich. Because of both governments' responsible fiscal policy with respect to public spending, and the fact that there are still decisions to be made by the U.S. Department of Defense that could affect firing operations, all parties agreed to defer investments until after stationing decisions are made.
The expectations of Boeblingen and Schoenaich are taken into account insofar as all participants agreed to examine additional short term organizational measures to quickly affect a reduction of firing noise. To this end, a meeting of all concerned parties will be held locally already in April, and all participants are confident that solutions will be found. The fact that a next meeting in the Ministry of Defense will be scheduled in June, further emphasizes that all involved are very interested in improvements to the situation.
