FORT BRAGG, North Carolina -- (Feb. 10, 2015) Members of the 900th Contingency Contracting Battalion here aligned with the 82nd Airborne Division to provide direct contracting support Jan. 26-30 during the Emergency Deployment Rehearsal Exercise training at Fort Stewart, Georgia. The 900th CCBn staff supported the 82nd AD as it conducted a five-day field training exercise in preparation for forced entry operations.Contracting support included field ordering officer training on the position's role and responsibilities as well as purchase order information requirements.During the training event, contingency contracting officers were also called upon to provide notional contracting support for a forklift that was needed in order to offload vital supplies for Soldiers in the field. By partnering with the division for this type of scenario-based training, commanders with the 82nd AD gained better situational awareness of the role of contingency contracting teams."These training events solidify the conceptual way ahead with the 900th's integration with the 82nd," said Lt. Col. Amanda Flint, battalion commander. "In addition to fostering relationship building between the two commands, commanders in our supported units are now better able to leverage the capabilities of CCTs in an operational environment.Officials from the Mission and Installation Contracting Command-Fort Bragg said the historic event was a first for the battalion. The 900th CCBn's participation resulted in further enhancing the ability to effectively execute contingency operations by contingency contracting teams. Contracting-based scenarios, which included role players, served to ensure that CCT members are trained in all facets of contingency operations."The overall training event was a success, but we will continue to refine our processes in order to allow for even greater levels of success in the future," Flint said.
