You are responsible for making sure that you have enough ration and money on your card to make off-post purchases. You can find this information easily by looking at your last receipt, checking your online fuel account, or stopping by your on-post fuel facility and having an associate swipe your card. In addition, customer service departments in all main stores can help you find this information.
In a few isolated cases, off-post facilities may not print this information on your receipt. Nevertheless, you can still easily find this information by using the steps outlined above. Remember, it is still up to you to keep track of your balances. If you do not have enough ration or enough money to cover your off-post purchase, you will be charged full price at the pumps.
Every Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine and eligible U.S civilian is responsible for using their fuel ration card properly after they've received it and activated it. To ensure complete understanding of proper fuel card use, all U.S. personnel who are stationed in Germany or otherwise eligible for the fuel ration card should fully review all published information on fuel ration card implementation and use. This includes all U.S. Forces and U.S. State Department personnel either permanently stationed or on temporary duty in Germany and their family members with drivers licenses permanently stationed in Germany.
