SPANGDAHLEM AIRBASE, Germany (Dec. 23, 2014) -- Soldiers from the 5-7 Air Defense Artillery, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command and the 480th Fighter Squadron conducted a joint exercise from 8 -- 10 December. The exercise focused on Defensive Counter Air Operations while strengthening joint partnerships and capabilities.
"For both the 480th Fighter Squadron and Delta Battery, this was a unique opportunity which provided realistic and exciting training for the Engagement Control Station (ECS) crews and pilots alike," said Capt. Jason Bryant, Delta Battery Commander.
During the exercise 5-7 ADA Soldiers conducted a Defensive Counter Air and Suppression of Enemy Air Defense Exercise with the 480th Fighter Squadron based out of Spangdahlem Airbase.
Throughout the event, organizations based at Spangdahlem in support of the 52nd Fighter Wing were exposed to the Patriot missile system for the first time. They became familiarized with the basic employment and mission of Army Air Defense through briefs conducted by the Soldiers of Delta Battery.
The 480th FS and 5-7 ADA will continue to train SEAD and Defensive Counter Air exercises in the future in order to enhance joint operations and interoperability through this new partnership.
