Pacific Regional Medical Command (PRMC) and Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) celebrates U.S. Army Medical Service Corps' 97th birthday on June 30, 2014 at TAMC, Hawaii.
The Medical Service Corps (MSC) is comprised of a wide diversity of medical administrative, scientific, and provider specialties ranging from the management and support of the Army's health services system to direct patient care.
"The U.S. Army Medical Service Corps has a long and distinguished history. With origins that can be traced back to the American Revolution, the members of the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps continue to strengthen the health of our nation by improving the health of the Army," stated Lt. Col. Tanya Peacock, Outgoing President, Aloha Chapter, Silver Caduceus Society.
A private association, known as the Silver Caduceus Society, provides a forum for camaraderie furthering professional knowledge, and sharing the Officers of the Medical Service Corps' wisdom. Over the past year the Aloha Chapter, Silver Caduceus Society, has conducted philanthropic events to advance within the community, social events that enable ready and resilient Soldiers, and educational events to further professional development to show their commitment to the Army Medicine 2020 Campaign Plan.
"The U.S. Army Medical Service Corps is an integral component of developing an Army that is fit and responsive to the global needs of America," says Peacock.
Peacock feels MSC officers are important as they positively impact the lives of Soldiers and their family members.
"The Medical Service Corps serves a vital role in transforming our healthcare system to a System for Health. Our Corps is instrumental in developing partnerships; synchronizing efforts to maintain, restore, and improve health; and providing innovative solutions for ensuring the delivery of reliable and effective health services," stated Peacock.
