Col. Johnny Davis became the 80th commander of the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard). Davis replaced Col. James C. Markert during a ceremony held at Summerall Field, Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Va., June 18, 2014.

Davis was the director of the U.S. Army Wounded Warrior Program based in Alexandria, Va. Markert, is slated to become the Operations Officer for III Corps at Fort Hood, Texas.

Maj. Gen. Jeffrey S. Buchanan, Joint Force Headquarters-National Capital Region and the U.S. Army Military District of Washington commander, hosted the ceremony.
