Team, I want to thank everyone for their warm welcome as Linda and I get settled here at Redstone Arsenal and join the Army Contracting Command family. We are both very excited about the opportunity to represent all the great Soldiers and civilians that make up this great organization.
As I said during my remarks at the change of responsibility ceremony, my primary mission is to advise the commander on all issues that affect the workforce. I can only accomplish that mission with your input. My door is always open. As I travel around, both here in the headquarters and throughout the field, it is your input and discussion that will allow me to be successful.
The reputation of this command is wide spread throughout the Army, and you should be rightly proud of all that you have accomplished. But there is always more that can be done. In my leadership philosophy, I state that the status quo is a failed argument. To do something just because we've always done it that way is a speed bump on the road to progress. I challenge each and every one of you to seek out efficiencies that makes us a more effective and relevant organization. We owe this to ourselves, our command and the nation. But most importantly we owe it to those Soldiers, on the ground in harm's way, whose lives are affected by what we do.
Again, I am absolutely proud to serve as your command sergeant major. I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can. Thank you for what you do each and every day. Your efforts make the difference. Always remember that the tip of the spear is only made lethal by the strength of the arm that supports it. You all are the strength that makes the spear lethal.
