PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - Wednesday, Feb. 5, was Military Appreciation Day at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, one of the most popular stops on the national PGA tour.
The day prior, Feb. 4, stars of the sports world congregated on the Pebble Beach Golf links to play for local Monterey Peninsula charities during tournament week at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
Many active-duty service members from the Presidio of Monterey and Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center were in attendance Tuesday enjoying an experience few military members could ever hope for.
But the big day for many more service members to attend was Military Appreciation Day.
During Military Appreciation Day, POM and DLI service members received free admission and special access to one of the week's highlights, the traditional 3M Celebrity Challenge.
As a "thank you" for their service, military members received special access to the course and an opportunity to meet many of their favorite sports and entertainment celebrities playing for local charities.
The AT&T Pro Am tournament is held annually on the Monterey Peninsula with a special day set aside each year to honor the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. This year's tournament week runs Feb. 3 - 9.
