2008 Infantry Warfighting Conference Sept. 15-17

The Commanding General of the United States Army Infantry Center will host the 2008 Infantry Warfighting Conference Sept. 15-17 at the Columbus Iron Works and Trade Center, Columbus, Ga. The theme for this years\' conference is: "The Infantry: Heart of the Army in the Contemporary Operational Environment." The conference assembles Army leaders with recent experience in combat, training for combat, and with Army transformation and modularity. The aim of the conference is to identify the methods that are working well in preparation and in execution of the Global War On Terrorism and to see how future systems will benefit Soldiers. Some of the Army's top leadership will give presentations discussing a host of topics and issues. The Chief of the Infantry will provide an update of the current state of the Infantry and the Chief of Armor will give an update on the Maneuver Center of Excellence. There will be presentations from Infantry, Stryker and Heavy Brigade Combat Team Commanders and their Command Sergeants Major on lessons they have learned. More than 300 vendors are expected to attend the conference representing various defense and technology industries including: Unmanned aerial vehicle systems, sophisticated training simulation systems, automated aircraft test and maintenance equipment, armament systems, weapons systems, logistical and engineering services, and other leading-edge technology solutions for defense needs.
