FORT RUCKER, Ala. (December 20, 2013) -- People can bowl in the New Year in lavish style Dec. 31 with a special evening for everyone that attends.

Inspired by the extravagant parties that were brought to life in the pages of the "Great Gatsby," Rucker Lanes will host a New Year's party that is sure to be the talk of the town when 2014 rolls in.

"There were a number of factors that we considered when planning this event. We wanted to offer something that would be cost effective for our military Families," said Ron Cook, Rucker Lanes business manager. "There was a great amount of focus in planning something that would be suitable for all ages, and then pushing it further to where it would be a great experience for the Family as a whole.

"(We wanted to provide) something that's not the 'norm' in bowling," he continued. "If we succeed on all of these goals, we will have provided the military Family a truly special event that will be memorable for (everyone)."

The Pin Down Countdown will have two events -- a Family countdown from 6-9 p.m. and a late-night countdown from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m., with "Great Gatsby"- era attire highly recommended at both parties.

"We know that there are a number of Families out there that have small children where a late-night (or later) event wouldn't be practical," said Cook. "As a facility, we're dedicated to making sure that every member of the Family, big or small, can come out and have fun with us, and in providing the earlier event, I feel that we have another opportunity to deliver on our commitment to the overall Family."

Cook said that Rucker Lanes is committed to delivering on its promise to provide Soldiers, civilians and their Families a quality of life commensurate with the quality of their service. In holding to this value, he said the parties were designed around the entire Family, and welcome all ages.

The Family countdown is $50 per lane with a maximum of six guests. The reservation includes unlimited bowling, shoe rental for all guests, one 16-inch pizza with one topping, one pitcher of fountain soda or tea, and New Year's party favors.

The late-night countdown is $100 per lane with a maximum of five guests. The reservation includes unlimited bowling, shoe rental for all guests, soup and salad and entrée for each guest, dessert selection, one pitcher of fountain soda or tea and New Year's party favors.

"Our (very important person) experience is something new that we get to offer this year, and it allows us to deliver an even more relaxed and comfortable bowling experience," said Cook. "Guests who reserve the VIP Lounge for the event will have two lanes for the event rather than our standard one lane reservation, as well as a couch and coffee table style seating rather than our normal barstools and tables. We only have one of these experiences available for each event, so reserve early!"

The VIP Countdown Experience is $75 for the Family countdown and $150 for the late-night countdown. Each lane is allowed six guests. A non-refundable deposit of $5 per person is due at the time of any reservation.

In the event that there are open lanes the night of the celebration, lanes will be offered to people on the stand-by list and walk-ins at the full advertised price.

No true 20s party is complete without being properly dressed and a number of prizes will be awarded to the guests that come in the style of the day.

"We are planning on offering a number of free food and bowling passes, with our grand prize being our Gatsby's Gift, where the best dressed lane can win a full reimbursement of the original reservation price, said Cook.

Cook said that in developing this year's theme they wanted to focus on something lavish, exciting and over-the-top.

"We will be serving steak and chicken dinners, providing full lane side service, and bringing our bowling experience to a whole new level. With this being our mindset for the event, the "Great Gatsby" became a natural fit," he said.
