SCHWEINFURT, Germany (Dec. 18, 2013) -- A bulk trash pick-up date at U.S. Army housing areas has been added in January to help with post-holidays cleanup.

Bulk trash will be picked up at Askren Manor, Yorktown Village and at government-leased housing Jan. 2 and Jan. 14.

In September the Directorate of Public Works announced that bulk trash would only be picked up once a month -- the second Tuesday of each month.

Community members can use these bulk trash pick-up dates as opportunities to rid their Christmas trees. After Jan. 14, community members can take their trees to either of the two recycle centers at Askren Manor or Conn Barracks.

Community members living in these areas should place their bulk items on the curb no earlier than Monday evening, and no later than 7 a.m. the morning of collection.

Only bulk trash items will be collected. Bulk trash include items too large to fit into regular trash containers, such as Christmas trees, old furniture, all electrical appliances, bicycles and large toys.
