FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas " Maj. Gen. Perry Wiggins, deputy commanding general, U.S. Army North (Fifth Army), smiles as his father, Lamar, and wife, Annette, tackle pinning lieutenant general rank on him during his promotion ceremony Sept. 4 at the historic Quadrangle. Immediately following the promotion, Wiggins assumed duties as commanding general, Army North, and senior commander for Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis.

Hu Rhodes looks on Sep. 4 during a change of command ceremony held in the historic Quadrangle. Wiggins previously served as the deputy commanding general for Army North and was promoted prior to the ceremony to the rank of lieutenant general then assumed duties as commanding general, Army North, and senior commander for Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis. Caldwell departs command of Fifth Army, the same command his father, Lt. Gen. (ret.) William Caldwell III, held before he retired in 1980, both in their 37th year of service. Rhodes is the senior enlisted leader for Army North, Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis.
