ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, MD- In support of the Headquarters of the Department of the Army, Chief Information Office, the U.S. Communications-Electronics Command's Software Engineering Center organized and presented an information session on implementation of the U.S. Army Data Strategy for the Army Information Architecture, AIA, to more than 100 program managers, developers and stakeholders from across the Army and Department of Defense enterprise.
The objectives of the Army Data Strategy align with Army leadership top priorities to make data visible, accessible, understandable, trusted and interoperable. The Army's approach focuses on providing users common, overarching data products and services that promote interoperability and faster access, retrieval, analysis and utilization of data.
By supporting this virtual session, the SEC was able to provide critical updates for stakeholders across the DoD on current information sharing and data interoperability policies and guidelines and providing a forum for questions specific to their unique challenges and circumstances. The AIA provides stakeholders with a roadmap to achieve these objectives.
The AIA has been staffed and will be presented to the Army CIO/G-6, LTG Lawrence for decision, in mid June for Army wide compliance.
The Army Data Strategy is the key to an agile, net-centric Army, and it aligns with DoD efforts to ensure interoperability in the Joint environment. It positions the Army to better support Soldiers and sustaining activities in today's dynamic, data-rich environment.
SEC support for DA CIO information exchanges further the Army Data Strategy objectives, benefitting Soldiers and decision makers alike as they gain access to the data they need in order to make knowledgeable and accurate decisions that protect lives and move the Army towards mission success.
