REDSTONE ARSENAL, Huntsville, Ala. -- In the newly-created Chief Technology Officer position, Dr. Grace M. Bochenek will provide AMC with a single authority for its Science and Technology (S&T) and Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) operations.

Bochenek comes to the headquarters after more than 20 years in AMC, most recently as Director of the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC). As the Director of TARDEC, she led the effort to develop and integrate technology solutions to improve current force effectiveness and provide superior capabilities for future force integration.

As the Chief Technology Officer, Dr Bochenek will lead all aspects of AMC's S&T development and set the S&T strategic direction for a full range of sophisticated weapon systems and cutting-edge technology. Additionally, the CTO provides AMC with a "Synchronization Agent" - for Research, Technology Development, Innovation and Integration.

"AMC has a proven track record and an enduring commitment to our warfighter through innovative ideas and practices," said Bochenek. "For certain, AMC is where Army innovation happens."

In addition, the CTO will oversee Army Materiel Systems Analysis Agency (AMSAA), as it transitions from being a subordinate element of Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM) to a direct reporting activity to HQs AMC. Given the broad impact of AMSAA on AMC's portfolio; the CTO will provide the commander with oversight to ensure that AMSAA is postured to support the Army's needs

AMC will continue to focus on sustaining strong partnership with the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology (ASA(AL&T)) and other Army Commands to ensure our activities are aligned with DoD and Army priorities, nurturing a culture of bold innovation and adaptation, while providing headquarters' oversight of the science and technology portfolio and investment strategies.

"The challenges our Army and our Nation face are many, and I look forward to engaging with the team here to foster partnerships, to nurture a culture of innovation and to support AMC's team of engineers and scientists," said Bochenek.
