Memorial Day is an American tradition marking the start of summer. The next 100 days represent one of the most enjoyable - and statistically dangerous -- periods of the entire year for US Army Pacific personnel, and I challenge each of you to put safety first during this summer season, whether on- or off-duty.
As we gather in celebration - at the beach or around the barbeque -- with friends and Family, we should also pause to remember the true significance of Memorial Day by honoring all of the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our liberty and way of life over the last 236 years.
Jeannine and I, along with Vira and CSM Leota, would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the Service Members throughout our history whose personal sacrifices make our Nation the freest, strongest country on Earth. We particularly wish to celebrate the lives of our Soldiers and Department of the Army Civilians lost during the present conflict, and we offer our continued thoughts and sympathy to the Family Members and friends who ensure they remain forever in our hearts.
One Team!
