FORT STEWART, Ga. - The Month of the Military Child kicked, jumped and danced its way into April with Shawn Brown's Super Fun Show at the Fort Stewart Youth center, April 2.

Students from various Child Development Centers at Fort Stewart stomped their feet, clapped their hands, spun in circles and sang along to Brown's catchy lyrics and choreography.

Brown, who refers to himself as an edu-tainer, explains that his performances are a process for children in which they learn through entertainment.

"I was given a task of doing a program that had either a story or something to do with deployments," Brown said, explaining his visit to the home of the Third Infantry Division. "To me, this is a very serious subject . . . I wanted to bring it across [with] joy and understanding of the process of a parent or loved one being deployed."

Brown is no stranger to the installation, who performed for Marne children last year. He reflects that this year's program was specific to military children and deployments.

"What made this more specific for the military child was that we did the bear deployment story," explained Brown. "The children flew with me to this imaginary land and helped the kinder bears deal with the meaner bears. [The children taught] the mean bears how to be friends."

Along with the performances, Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Garrison Commander Col. Kevin Milton and Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. James Ervin took the stage with Brown.

"Those two guys, Col. Milton and [Command Sgt. Maj.] Ervin are the right people at the right time for this community," reflected Brown. "I could see what they did today was genuine."
