HEIDELBERG, Germany -- For the second time in three years, members of IMCOM Europe have won both awards in both categories of the Army-wide competition for the Secretary of the Army Publications Improvements Awards.

Miriam Benz has won the Army Editor of the Year Award (Command), and Robert L. Mohler, Tamara Pasquale, and Natascha J. Syre, as a group, have won the Secretary of the Army Award for Publications Improvements (Command). When they were nominated, all four of the employees were members of the IMCOM-Europe Document Management Branch. Three of them still are, but Syre now works for the Smithsonian Institution in Washington.

Benz is being recognized for her success in editing Army in Europe publications. Mohler, Pasquale, and Syre are being recognized for merging the Library of Army in Europe Publications and Forms with the Army in Europe Publishing System to create the consolidated Army in Europe Library & Publishing System and for making AEPUBS available on both the classified and unclassified computer networks.

The annual competition for the Secretary of the Army Publications Improvements Awards is sponsored by the United States Army Publishing Directorate, Office of the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army. Military and civilian personnel from all Army commands, Army service component commands, and direct reporting units, down to division level, are eligible to compete. A panel comprising seven members of the HQDA staff reviews the nominations and recommends the winners. The Department of the Army Incentive Awards Board then reviews the recommendations and forwards them to the Secretary of the Army for final decision.

This is the third year in a row that a member of IMCOM-Europe has been named Army Editor of the Year and the second time in three years that a member of IMCOM-Europe has won the Secretary of the Army Publications Improvements Award. With these two awards, members of the Document Management Branch have received one or the other of the top two Army publishing awards 17 times.

The Secretary of the Army presented the awards in a ceremony at the Pentagon on March 15.
