FORT STEWART, Ga. - A dedicated and trained staff is ready to prepare and file your tax return at no charge. Your tax return is filed electronically and if a refund is due, you will usually receive it within seven to ten business days. Eligible individuals include active duty Soldiers and Servicemembers, Family Member dependents, and retirees.

The tax center is open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Jan. 26 through April 15. The Fort Stewart office will be located in Bldg. 709, the same building as the Legal Assistance Office, at 1791 Gulick Ave. The HAAF office is at Bldg. 1211 at the Hunter Legal Center. Documents to bring if they apply to you: W2 for all wages received; prior year federal and state income tax return; military ID (self and spouse); receipts for charitable contributions; Social Security Card or memo from the Social Security Administration; property tax receipts; home mortgage interest statement; power of attorney if necessary; student loan interest statement; proof of dependent care expenses; proof of educational expenses; HUD 1 Statement (if home purchased in 2009/2010); IRA/TSP contribution statements; dividend income statement (e.g. 1099DIV); statements reflecting capital gains/losses; and educator expenses.
