SDDC honors high performing shippers

ATLANTA, Ga., (Mar. 10, 2010) - The Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command recognized 15 government shippers this evening for outstanding performance within the Defense Transportation System throughout 2009.

SDDC's Shipper Performance Awards were presented by Maj. Gen. James L. Hodge, commanding general of SDDC, at a special banquet during the command's 2010 Training Symposium.

'Shipper' refers to any government and/or vendor office or organization that books and moves cargo through the DTS, and the award recognizes organizations who consistently submit on-time and error-free data.

Awardees in the Small Shipper category are UPS Freight/Army and Air Force Exchange Service Consolidation, AAFES Celebrity Warehouse, and Versacold Logistics Services.

In the Medium Shipper category, awards were presented to the Joint Military Postal Activity - Atlantic, AAFES Atlanta Distribution Center, Joint Military Postal Activity - Pacific, and AAFES Waco Distribution Center.

In the Large Shipper category, awardees are the Headquarters Defense Commissary Agency and Navy Exchange Service Command.

In the Super Large Shipper category, awardees are Defense Distribution Depot Susquehanna, Defense Commissary Agency West, and AAFES Logistics Export Traffic Management.

And in the Shipper of Merit Category, awardees are the Defense Contract Management Agency Cleveland, GSA/FAS/GSS Center for Transportation and Readiness, and the Defense Distribution Depot Norfolk.
