FORT SILL, Okla.- Last month 4th Battalion, 3rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade held their first Chemical Biological Radioactive Nuclear or CBRN Battalion Competition. The competition was planned and executed by the Battalion CBRN Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Sgt. Mary-Ruth Thrailkill.
The competition consisted of four areas that the Battery CBRN Teams were responsible for executing. There was a Battalion Staff Assisted Visit, CBRN Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills, CBRN Control Party Testing and CBRN Crew Certification.
The staff assisted visits ensured the CBRN cages were in accordance with U.S. Army Regulations, the Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills consisted of standard Army tasks associated with CBRN Training, the control party testing consisted of a CBRN knowledge test consisting of 50 questions, and the crew certification allowed the crews to conduct vehicle and personnel chemical decontamination.
The battery that scored the highest overall in all of the events was awarded a battery guide-on streamer to identify themselves as the best CBRN battery in the battalion.
"The purpose of this operation was to ensure our Soldiers are prepared to respond to any CBRN situation or response for any future missions," said the Battalion CBRN Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, Sgt. Mary-Ruth Thrailkill.
"The end state for the training was to ensure all Soldiers demonstrated proficiency in CBRN related tasks, CBRN teams are certified and the battery with the best CBRN program in the battalion is identified."
