YONGSAN GARRISON, Republic of Korea -- A 10-ball billiards world champion visited Yongsan to demonstrate her skills and meet members of the Yongsan community at the R&R Bar and Grill, Dec 20.

Nicknamed the 'Little Devil Girl,' Ms. Kim Ga-young displayed her talent to the Yongsan community in many ways. First, she performed some trick shots which amazed the people attending the event. After her technical performance, she asked for volunteers and 15 challengers competed against her in the game of their choice. Most of the players finished the game by acknowledging the gap between professional and the ordinary. Kenneth McSwain, an Army spouse, commented about playing against Ms. Kim Ga-young.

"It really was an exciting experience. I'm glad that I took the time to attend this event," McSwain said. "How often do you get a chance to compete against a world champion, though I do like pool, I never envisioned this could happen. It would've been better to experience what it feels like to beat a world champion, but maybe I will have better luck next time."

This was not Kim's first visit to Yongsan Garrison, and she shared her thoughts about meeting more members of the community here.

"It is my second time (here), and I'm truly grateful to be here and I want to express my thanks to the people who attended," Kim said. "I especially enjoyed the game I played with the attendees here at the event. We professionals usually play pool for a purpose to practice personal skills, so it's nice to play pool just for the fun of it."

Following the competition, Kim presented autographed pictures to the attendees and thanked them for their service.

"The people were very lively and that helps me get some positive energy," I think I gained something that isn't just about playing pool; it certainly was a unique experience and I'd love to return here."
