Police Officer, Security Officer, and Dispatcher of the Year Award Nominations

Introduction: The Police Officer of the Year, Security Officer of the Year, and Dispatcher of the Year award provides recognition of those employees who have demonstrated exceptional valor in service to the people of Dugway Proving Ground, thereby upholding the highest traditions of law enforcement.

Eligibility: All DES police officers, security guards, and dispatchers below the rank of Deputy Chief are eligible. Selection criteria for this prestigious award is based on the individual's performance of duties that demonstrate the highest standards of competence and professionalism, their contribution to the department and commitment to the principles of Community Oriented Policing from 01 May 2012 thru 01 May 2013. Other criteria considered:

• Has displayed heroism above and beyond while performing his or her duties

• Actions which reflect the highest traditions of public safety service

• Demonstrates a positive attitude toward all aspects of their job

• Consistently provides excellent service and outstanding performance in serving the installation and its residents, workforce, and visitors while focusing on doing things right and doing the right thing, and

• Is motivated to making contributions which significantly exceed normal expectations of their job responsibility

• Demonstrates a consistent spirit of teamwork and cooperation

• Is a model of personal integrity and honesty

• Demonstrates flexibility in assignments and capabilities

• Demonstrates professionalism and pride in being on time, personal appearance, quality of workplace appearance, and other factors that merit enhanced respect and esteem of co-workers and others

• Demonstrates his or her knowledge of the profession

• Serves as a role-model for others

• Has participated in or assisted in the development and implementation of Community Policing like programs or activities that have helped maintain and improve the image of the Department, improved the Department's ability to deliver its services, and has had a positive impact on the quality of life of the residents and business community of Dugway Proving Ground.

Documentation: Nominations are accepted from anyone having knowledge of the nominee's actions. This includes, but is not limited to, interested citizens of the community/workforce, fellow DES employees, other law enforcement officials, and/or Installation Command Leadership. A letter of nomination must include a statement of the specific circumstances involving distinguished performance. PLEASE LIMIT this to 1 full typed page if possible, but do not omit important information.

Deadline: Submissions and all material must be e‐mailed to phillip.e.fishbeck.civ@mail.mil by midnight MST on 13 May 13.

Selection Process: The award recipient will be chosen by the Selection Committee after a full review of nominations. The Selection Committee is composed of the following members: Director of Emergency Services, Deputy Police Chief, Fire Chief, and two members outside of the DES. The Selection Committee is authorized to make a full and complete investigation of facts in substantiation of nominations. The prompt submission of nominations will permit this to be done more effectively.

Presentation of Award: The Police Officer, Security Officer, and Dispatcher of the Year will be honored at the Dugway Police Department's annual dinner banquet that will be held on 17 May 2013 at the Tooele Army Depot's Eagles Nest.
