Reserve Component Enablers: A "Team of Teams"

What is it?

Today's Reserve Component (RC) force represents more than 51 percent of our total Army and is a full partner and critical element of the Army's ability to meet the National Military Strategy. First Army, as Forces Command's executing agent for RC mobilization and demobilization, integrates a "team of teams" approach that leverages the expertise and resources from many specialized organizations to execute the full range of tasks associated with the deployment and redeployment mission. These enablers perform the critical functions to build and sustain training, equipment and medical readiness at home station, Regional Collective Training Centers and Mobilization Training Centers.

What has the Army done?

Our nation and our Army continually refine and improve the quality of training support and care given to our deploying and redeploying warfighters. First Army leverages expertise from Army agencies who provide services to Soldiers before, during and after a deployment. First Army's enterprise partners for training, mobilization and demobilization include Medical Command, Dental Command, Army Material Command, Army Sustainment Command, Installation Management Command, the Army Reserve Command (75th Mission Command Training Division and the 84th Training Command), our Army's Combat Training Centers (JRTC and NTC), Training and Doctrine Command and all of our Army's Centers of Excellence.

What efforts does the Army plan to continue in the future?

The Army will maintain its focus on providing quality training support to Reserve Component formations prior mobilization and improving the treatment and care for returning Soldiers. First Army integrates support from Army commands, the Veteran's Administration, Hero to Hire, and other employer partnerships to perform demobilization functions and assist Soldiers in the reintegration process. Enterprise partners assist RC Soldiers in overcoming the unique challenges they face to include maintaining civilian employment and educational opportunities while being geographically displaced from traditional military support networks. Continued focus on the requirements based demobilization process and outreach to other organizations for resources are key elements for success.

Why is this important to the Army?

Soldiers, and the families that support them, remain the nation's most valuable asset. Modernizing our mobilization training support and demobilization plans to include expert enablers from Army commands and external Army enterprise partners is a smart business practice that will identify the critical and required resources. These readiness resources - synchronized, sourced and integrated - across the mobilization and demobilization spectrum ensure the quality of training, support and readiness of RC Soldiers and units.
