What is it?
The Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) and Rehearsals Training Tool Kit is a web-based program designed to be used as a staff leader's development program where units can watch, learn, practice and participate in the entire MDMP process or specific portions of interest. The tool kit includes a narration of the entire MDMP process. The rehearsals include Combined Arms, Fire Support and Technical, Sustainment and Intelligence Synchronization elements. The kit also provides all documents and products needed to make the whole experience participatory. The tool kit walks you through all or specific steps of the MDMP and allows the audience to follow along and receive this training in order for them to perform the MDMP to Army standard.
What has the Army done?
FM 5-0, C1 states that the Army has adapted the analytical approach to problem solving and designed the Military Decision-Making Process to assist commanders and their staff in developing estimates and a plan. While the formal problem-solving process may start with the receipt of a mission, and has as its goal the production of an order, the analytical aspects of the MDMP continue at all levels during operations. The MDMP helps the commander and staffs examine a battlefield situation and reach logical decisions.
What continued efforts does the Army have planned for the future?
As our Army transitions to a leaner, even more agile force, MDMP remains applicable; providing the future force a logical process to PREVENT conflict; SHAPE the environment; and decisively WIN our Nation's wars.
Why is this important to the Army?
The MDMP and Rehearsals Training Tool Kit is a unique and valuable way that the Army invests in professional development and encourages commanders and staffs to grow. This tool kit provides professional benefits to every leader across the Army. The impact is a better-led force and leaders who understand the Army's analytical approach to developing estimates, planning and problem solving. Additionally, the tool kit supports continuous development and is available to be used as a training tool for seasoned or newly assigned leaders in staff and command positions. This tool kit is available to our forces on the Army Training Network. The kit provides units with training and information that has broad applicability to Mission Readiness Exercises and Decisive Action rotations at the Combat Training Centers as well as home station training events.
