2008 U.S. Army All-American Bowl

What is it? On January 5, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, the premier high school all-star football game in the country, will be played in a classic East vs. West match-up at San Antonio's Alamodome. Each year, the all-star game provides a national forum for tomorrow's college and future NFL stars to showcase their extraordinary talents-- talents that mirror the strength, teamwork and dedication of the game's title sponsor, the U.S. Army.

The 90 student-athletes selected to participate in this annual event embody the characteristics of Army Strong. Through "Leadership and Teamwork in Action," the U.S. Army All-American Bowl provides opportunities for these young adults to further develop the strengths that will help them become future leaders, on and off the field.

This year the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band will premiere during halftime of the All-American Bowl. The U.S. Army All-American Marching Band is comprised of 91 of the best high-school musicians chosen by members of the Music Educators National Conference from around the country.

Through Bowl Week activities, athletes, musicians, coaches and parents will gain a better understanding of what it means to be a Soldier in the U.S. Army by spending time with 90 Soldier Heroes who have recently returned from Iraq or Afghanistan.

What has the Army done? This is the eighth year for the All-American Bowl and seventh under the partnership between the U.S. Army and Sportslink, Inc.

Each student-athlete and musician participating in the game demonstrates key qualities valued by every Army Strong Soldier - leadership, teamwork and commitment to excellence. The entire week is a celebration of the Army Strong Soldier and the strengths and successes of every participant.

The Army continues to leverage the All-American Bowl to strengthen and enhance its connection with America's teachers, students, parents, coaches and communities. The game presents a positive image of Soldiers and the Army as an attractive career option, and communicates to the public that Soldiers are the strength of the Nation.

What's next? Be sure to watch as our U.S. Army All-Americans, All-American Marching Band musicians and Soldier Heroes take the field January 5; NBC will air the game live at noon CST.
