Army Educational Outreach Program

What is it? The U.S. Army has long recognized that a scientifically and technologically literate citizenry has far reaching impacts for our national security. The Army Education Outreach Program (AEOP) is comprised of Army-sponsored research, education, competitions, internships, and practical experience designed to engage and guide students and teachers in science, mathematics, engineering and technology. From kindergarten through graduate school, students of all proficiency levels, interests, and ethnic, economic and academic backgrounds are encouraged to participate in real world experiences involving these important disciplines.

What has the Army done? At the 2006 Army Science Conference recently held in Orlando Florida, area eCYBERMISSION winners were recognized for their achievements and introduced to cutting edge Army technologies. Just one of AEOP's many programs, eCYBERMISSION, is the U.S. Army's free, web-based science, math, and technology competition for 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grade teams. Teams propose a solution to a real problem in local communities and compete for regional and national awards. The program is in its fifth year and has an ever growing number of student participants and national recognition.

The 2005-2006 competition even got the attention of Bill Gates, chairman of Microsoft Corporation. In a videotaped address to the national finalists, Gates challenged the students to continue their pursuits of science, math, and technology: "Your experience with eCYBERMISSION is just the beginning. I urge you to continue to stay focused, to think outside the box, to ask yourself 'how does this work,' 'how can I solve this problem,' or 'how can I make this technology better.' "

2006 Army-Navy Football Game in Philadelphia

The Army-Navy football game is one of the most traditional and enduring rivalries in college football. The game will be televised on CBS on Saturday December 2 at 2:30 pm and will also be streaming Live on AKO.

The information papers -- written, approved and submitted by the Army agencies -- provide a broad, objective view of the Army’s current operations, doctrine and programs. The "Today’s Focus" topics highlight Army Staff initiatives and support Army wide strategic-level issues.

All published editions are sent to subscribers via email and archived daily in the STAND-TO! Archives.

STAND-TO! falls under the management of the Online and Social Media Division (OSMD) in the Office of the Chief of Public Affairs (OCPA).
