Who We Are

The CGSC is America’s School for War. Since its inception in 1881 as the School of Application for Infantry and Cavalry at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, the Command and General Staff College (CGSC) has evolved to meet the educational and operational needs of the United States Army. Through our rigorous courses and leader development, we deliver highly effective, decisive, and agile warfighters.

Mission

Educate, train and develop leaders for Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) and Joint All-Domain Operations (JADO) in a joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational (JIIM) operational environment; and to advance the art and science of the Profession of Arms in support of Army operational requirements.

Vision

CGSC modernizes organizational leader education with cutting-edge learning technologies and innovative teaching practices to enable continuous transformation across the Army, develop leaders of character who unleash cognitive overmatch over adaptive threats, and deliver decisive warfighting capabilities to Army and joint forces commands.
