Experts to answer Army training questions on Twitter

FORT LEAVENWORTH, Kan. -- Army training experts will answer questions at weekly Twitter chats, starting March 26.

This virtual chat will be every Tuesday at 2 p.m. Central Standard Time until 3 p.m. CST. The questions will be fielded by experts of the Training Management Directorate @ArmyTrainingNet and trending #ArmyTrainChat.

The Training Management Directorate (TMD) operates the Army Training Network (ATN), https://atn.army.mil, which is a one-stop web site for essential Army training information. TMD held its first Twitter chat on March 8 and drew about 25 questions.

WHAT IS A TWITTER CHAT? A Twitter chat is an online chat, where people gather to talk about a specific topic. Twitter chats connect people despite geographical barriers to a central area where they can interact in real time.

To join a Twitter chat, you just need to know its hashtag. A hashtag is a way to search topics on Twitter and is recognized as a word preceded by a "#," such as #ArmyTrainingNet or #ArmyTrainChat.

HOW DO I LISTEN TO THE TWITTER CHAT? Go to https://twitter.com/search, then type #ArmyTrainChat into the search box and press the blue search button. If you keep refreshing the search results, you will see the chat stream.

HOW DO I PARTICIPATE IN THE TWITTER CHAT? Every Tuesday at 2 p.m. CST follow "https://twitter.com/ArmyTrainingNet" @ArmyTrainingNet and use the #ArmyTrainChat hashtag to join the conversation. The Army Training Network @ArmyTrainingNet will respond to your #ArmyTrainChat Tweets from the Army Training Network Twitter page @ArmyTrainingNet.

The chat also will be simultaneously answering questions on ATN's Facebook page: "https://www.facebook.com/#!/ArmyTrainingNetwork".

TMD manages training development policies, processes, and products; develops training concepts and strategies; develops training management doctrine, and provides training management tools and products. TMD is a subordinate organization of the Combined Arms Center -- Training (CAC-T).

CAC-T manages development, resourcing and integration of Army training, training management and training support requirements to train units and prepare leaders. Wherever Army training and leader development occur, CAC-T helps make them happen.
