Savings fund application warning

The Apple App Store is offering a free iPhone application called TSP Funds that is not sanctioned by the Thrift Savings Plan. The app asks TSP participants for their account login information. TSP recommends that participants not use the TSP Funds app to access their TSP accounts because using the app could result in a security risk to their accounts.

AER campaign

Tax Centers

Katterbach Tax Center, located on the third floor of the ACS building, is open now. Mission Complete Race

Fifth Battalion, 158th Aviation Regiment, and USAG Ansbach Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation hold the "Mission Complete Race," a five-kilometer obstacle course, May 3 at Franken Kaserne off B13 with GPS address of "Muna Siedlung, 91613 Marktbergel." Registrants pay $25 now through March 15, $30 March 16 through April 19 and $35 April 20 through May 3. Family teams pay $50; non-family teams pay $100. Colmberg Castle dinner

Have an entertaining evening with Ansbach Spouses' and Civilians' Club at the Colmberg Castle March 23 at 6 p.m. The bar opens at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy a seven-course meal accompanied by a fire show, sword fight, ax-throwing demonstration and more. The event lasts 4.5 hours long, costs 80 euros for ASCC members and 85 euros for non-members. The price includes one non-alcoholic drink and souvenir. Attendees can purchase an engraved plate for 20 euros. Attendees should sign up at the ASCC Thrift Store as soon as possible. CLOSURES

Resurfacing of B-14

Resurfacing is ongoing for state road B-14 along Urlas and Shipton Kaserne. The speed limit is reduced to 50 kilometers per hour. Access and exit to and from Obereichenbach will remain the same. During phase one, two lanes going toward Katterbach will be resurfaced. Entering from Katterbach and exiting toward Ansbach will remain possible. There will be a detour exiting toward Katterbach and entering from Ansbach, offering two possibilities to turn around: One at Hotel Windmühle and one at Obereichenbach. During phase two, two lanes going toward Ansbach will be resurfaced. The current access near the traffic light will be blocked and drivers coming from Katterbach toward Ansbach will be detoured by Soldier Lake. The detour for exiting toward Katterbach and entering from Ansbach will remain in place.

Brown Bag Lunch

Ansbach guided tours

Tour Ansbach with a guide every Sunday at 11 a.m. for 3 euros per person. The group meets at the Schlossplatz near the horse sculpture "Anscavallo." English-language tours are by reservation only and must be booked with the Ansbach Tourism Office two weeks in advance. The group rate is 80 euros per group with a maximum of 35 people. Eagle's Nest

The Barton Barracks "Eagle's Nest," located next to Duggan Gym, offers a full working kitchen with an area to seat more than 30 people. The Eagle's Nest is open to all community members. Recycle plastic

Recycle plastic within U.S. Army Ansbach. Red and yellow containers are for plastic bags, plastic bottles, plastic containers, Saran wrap, wax paper, small pieces of Styrofoam, tooth paste tubes, shampoo bottles, small plastic toys, beverage cup lids, beverage cartons, sandwich containers, candy wrappers, chip bags, ice cream cartons, juice cartons, milk cartons and coffee cans. Bulky plastic items have to be taken to the Recycling Center at Katterbach, Bldg. 9024, from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Friday or to Recycling Center Illesheim, next to Bldg. 6689, from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday or from 8 to 10 a.m. and 2:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday. Brown bins

Brown bio containers are for food waste and organic material. What can go into the biological waste container includes bones, coffee grounds, tea, tea bags, egg shells, food scraps, fruit, fruit peels, meat, fish, vegetables as well as yard waste like branches, leaves, bush cuttings, flowers, grass and lawn clippings, plants and weeds. Put a few pages of newspaper on the bottom of the container to absorb moisture and to keep the container clean. Collect kitchen waste in paper bags or newspaper to soak up moisture, place the bio bin in a shady place, keep the bin closed to avoid odors, wash out the bin periodically. Do not throw plastic in the brown containers.

Orange, beige containers

Orange and beige containers are for used clothes and shoes. Used clothes, bedding, pillows and shoes may go in these bins. All textiles and shoes should be clean and in good condition. Do not dispose of military uniforms in these containers. Uniforms must be turned in to the Central Issuing Facility.

Safety hazard

Between Ansbach and Illesheim, there is a safety hazard on B-13. North of Oberdachstetten there is a steep decline that goes under a railroad overpass. One lane of traffic goes down the hill and two lanes go up. Do not pass.
