2-5th FA rides hot half to intramural hoops win

FORT SILL, Okla. -- Intramural basketball continued at Rinehart Fitness Center with the game of the week March 7 featuring 2nd Battalion, 5th Field Artillery and B Battery, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Field Artillery.

2-5th FA rolled to a 34-10 lead after the first half then coasted to a 59-45 victory. Roger Green's 11 points led the victors while Germaine Beazer added 10.

Ryan Winner displayed the hot hand throughout the night as he nailed six 3-pointers from all over the court. Overall, he scored 27 points for the Big Deuce. Dexter Wise dropped a pair of treys for six points.

1-14th FA vs. 2-4th FA

2nd Battalion, 4th Field Artillery held on late to beat 1st Battalion, 14th Field Artillery 48-46. The two teams battled to a 21-all draw after the first half. Then, 2-4th FA built a seven-point lead late in the game only to see 1-14th rally as a deep 3-pointer within seconds on the clock cut the lead to two points. But, they failed to tie or win the game, and 2-4th FA prevailed.

Andrew Muldrow poured in 20 points to lead the winners, Kyle Yates contributed eight points.

Terry Saunders hit for 13 points, and teammate Rashawn Morris chipped in 10 points for 1-14th FA.

168th BSB vs. A/3-13th FA

In what could have been the real game of the week, the slick uniformed 168th Brigade Support Battalion beat A Battery, 3rd Battalion, 13th Field Artillery, 63-52.

Andre Parson hit four shots from beyond the 3-point arc and 16 points total to lead BSB. Quinn Bell, Joshua Robinson and Cody Garner each tallied 11 points.

Marcus Allen's 17 points topped A Battery, Rance Beck tossed in 13 points and Marquis Lenier added 10.

March 12

B/3-6th ADA vs. H/2-6th ADA

B Battery, 3-6th ADA carried a seven-point lead into the second half but failed to hold off a hard-charging Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 2-6th ADA squad who rallied for a 56-52 victory.

Malcolm Weston had 15 points to lead the headquarters team. Kelly James added 12 points and Tavaar Robertson 10.

James Smith had a game-high 15 points for B Battery. Chris Johnson hit for a dozen and Carl Blocker scored nine.

DFAC vs. C/1-56th

Vincent Hodge was one hot chef as he nailed four 3-pointers and 16 points total to carry the Dining Facility team to a 48-31 victory over C Battery, 1st Battalion, 56th ADA.

Fernando Taylor contributed eight points, and Lebrone Marzette had seven for the victors.

Josh Edward led C Battery with 10 points. Jason Reams tossed in seven.

100 BSB vs. A/1-56th ADA

A Battery, 1-56th ADA redeemed their C Battery mates with a 43-38 win against the 100th Brigade Support Battalion.

Jon Jackson hit four 3-pointers to top the A Battery scorers. Carlo Sandiego had 12 points.

Tony Kaintz led BSB with 10 points. Christopher McCoy and Jeffrey Acosta each added eight points.

D/2-6th ADA vs. C/3-6th ADA

C Battery, 3rd Battalion, 6th Air Defense Artillery doubled up D Battery, 2nd Battalion, 6th ADA 47-20 on March 7.

Rudo Stone was solid as a rock in the low post as he led the C Battery offense with 18 points. Tyler Bates added a sequestration dozen (11 points).

Andrew Welch topped D Battery with 10 points.
