FORT SILL, Okla. -- The Game of the Week featured two near-.500 teams facing off in intramural basketball Feb. 21 at Rinehart Fitness Center here.
A Battery, 3rd Battalion, 13th Field Artillery, power forward Marcus Allen's take-it-to-the-hole game resulted in frequent fouls by 2nd Battalion, 4th FA defenders as he led his team to a 51-45 win. Allen hit nine of 10 free throws and 15 points overall. Devin Seamon chipped in 13 points, and Patrick Dotson and Rance Beck both hit 3-pointers for the victors.
Frequent turnovers and 10 of 21 free throws made, kept the 2-4th FA squad from the win. Despite some early foul trouble, Jordan Hill still netted 13 points for 2-4th FA, Andre Drow contributed 11 points.
B/2-6 ADA vs. C/3-6 ADA
B Battery, 2nd Battalion, 6th Air Defense Artillery rode Andrew Zanotti's 13 points to slip by C Battery, 3-6th ADA 45-41. Kyle Hunnicutt and Dylan Beauregard added a pair of sawbucks for B Battery. Jamel Hold and Rudo Stone combined for 30 points to lead C Battery.
DFAC vs. 571
The Chefs served up another W as they beat the 571st Forward Support Company 46-41. Lebrone Marzele's 12 points led the DFAC offense, Vincent Hodge and Michael Zumunda each pitched in with 10 points apiece. Robert Williams'11 points carded high scoring honors for FSC.
H/2-6 ADA vs. C/3-6 ADA
Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 2-6th ADA eased past C/3-6th ADA 48-32 behind Malcom Weston's baker's dozen. Rudo Stone (What a name, this guy should be a Hollywood action hero!) paced C Battery with nine points.
100 BSB vs. B/3-6 ADA
If Jeffrey Acosta's younger brother had visited last week, chances are he would have contributed to the win, too. The 100th Brigade Support Battalion took a page out of the Navy's "all hands on deck" call as 10 players scored in a 59-32 pasting of B Battery, 3-6th ADA. Acosta's dozen points topped the support men. James Smith countered with a game-high 16 points for the air defenders.
H/2-4 FA vs. H/2-2 FA
In a battle of headquarters batteries, H Battery, 2nd Battalion, 2nd FA rolled to a 58-38 shellacking of H/2-4th FA. Damien Carter hit for 17 points and Michael Edwards added 15 for the Big Deuce. Micah Ray's 16 points and Miguel Sanchez's 14 garnered the lion's share for 2-4th FA.
2-5 FA vs. H/2-2 FA
H/2-2nd FA made it two straight with a 52-45 win over 2-5th FA. Damien Carter continued his scoring touch with 16 points while Mark Curry added eight points. Marcus Freeman had nine points for 2-5th FA.
C/1-78 FA vs. 2-4 FA
C Battery, 1st Battalion, 78th Field Artillery crushed 2-4th FA 56-27.
Dwane Wright's 10 points led the victors. Kyle Yates eight points topped the second place team.
DFAC vs. D/2-6 ADA
Y'know how you can always get a good burger at the dining facility?
Same kinda thing is happening on the basketball court. Just seems like the Chefs got quite a team here as they broiled D Battery, 2-6th ADA 57-27. Quinton Shelton and Fernando Taylor combined for 15 points to complement Michael Zumunda's team-high 14 points. Justin Davis could have been shooting to Rod Stewart's song "Downtown Train" - "all my [threes], all my [threes] fall like rain." Davis nailed four 3-pointers and 17 total points for his ADA squad.
571 FSC vs. B/2-6 ADA
The 571st FSC pounded B/2-6th ADA 53-27 as Kevin Blane hit for 17 points. Richard Dean evidentally likes classic rock too as he dropped four buckets from beyond the 3-point arc. James Harris topped ADA with 10 points.
