FORD ISLAND, Hawaii -- The Hawaii-Pacific Combined Federal Campaign raised over $5.7 million from Oct. 1 through Nov. 16. A ceremony recognizing the fund raising effort was held aboard the U.S.S. Missouri Jan.16 on Ford Island and hosted by U.S. Army Pacific.
CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign. Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.
During CFC 2012, USARPAC was the lead agency. Hawaii-Pacific CFC area of responsibility includes Hawaii, Guam, Marianas and American Samoa military personnel and federal employees.
"We are here to recognize all the hard work put in by the personnel who worked on Combined Federal Campaign and all the units that achieved exceptional levels of giving," said Army Maj. Kurt W. Muniz, master of ceremony and assistant CFC project officer.
Opening remarks were made by the USARPAC, Deputy Commanding General, Maj. Gen. William Beard.
"This is the 51st year of the Combined Federal Campaign. President Kennedy was the one who started it [CFC] in 1961, said Beard. This year's theme was 'One Team Making a Difference' and it was with help from the Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Federal employees, said Beard. "It is cool to see everyone shouldering up to this campaign."
Following Beard's comments Platinum and Eco-Friendly award certificates were presented.
To receive the Platinum Award units had to have a 60 percent participation rate and average $95 dollars per capita. Units recognized for the Platinum Award were:
624th Regional Support Group, USAFR
Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District
Hawaii Army National Guard, 298th Regiment Training Institute
Hawaii Army National Guard, Human Resource Office

Eco Friendly Recognition Awards were presented units that had the largest percentage of online pledges:
Award for Medium Organizations went to the U.S. Property and Fiscal Officers, HI ARNG
Award for Small Organizations went to the 298th Regional Training Institute, HI ARNG.
Following the awards Beard presented Colby Stanton, Vice Chair, Federal Executive Board an oversized check for $5,731,426.19 on behalf of the 27,298 donors within the Hawaii Pacific area.
The mission of the Combined Federal Campaign is to promote community focused cost efficient program to provide all federal employees an opportunity to improve the quality of life for all, said Stanton.
USARPAC's goal of 100 percent face-to-face contact really set the standard for accomplishing the campaign, said Stanton.
Your commitment and support is deeply appreciated by the local charities some of whom are here today and the international and national charities. I know they join me in expressing appreciation for every dollar raised on their behalf.
Project manager Lt. Col. Darren Holbrook [CFC Project Officer] and the USARPAC team, I thank you for your support.
Each year the lead agency role is rotated amongst military agencies in Honolulu. The CFC Eagle Trpohy is held by the lead military service for the duration of the campaign.
Beard and Colby presented the CFC Eagle to Air Force Brig. Gen. Patrick C. Malackowski, symbolically passing the torch of responsibility and accountability to the Pacific Air Force for the 2013 CFC campaign. In keeping with tradition Beard, gave Malackowski the first donation to kick-off the 2013 campaign.
"I go on record that the U.S. Army Pacific will start the 2013 CFC with a $20 donation and challenge PACAF to $1 better than the 5.7 million my team has raised," said Beard.
