BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan--Major Generals Kenneth R. Dahl, U.S. Forces-Afghanistan, deputy commander for support, and Kurt J. Stein, 1st Theater Sustainment Command, commanding general, visited the 401st Army Field Support Brigade Dec. 30 to learn more about brigade missions, processes and processes.

The first stop was the Logistics Task Force Bagram redistribution property assistance yard where they discussed property accountability, ammunition abatement procedures and how rolling and non-rolling stock is received, handled and moved according to disposition instructions.

"How do you determine which vehicles with upgrades should be kept in theater?" Dahl asked Gloria Blake, theater provided equipment project manager.

"It all starts at retail," Blake responded. She went on to explain that when equipment is entered into TPE planner, Army Materiel Command's life cycle management commands evaluate theater requirements before determining the disposition for each piece of equipment.

He said he is concerned that we are sending equipment from the theater only to see the same types of vehicles and equipment being sent into theater for other missions.

They next went to see upgrades to some of the mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles. This mission is just getting underway and is designed to increase survivability for Soldiers in the vehicles.
